WHY ?...
I am often asked why would you want to stand for parliament? Truthfully….sometimes I ask myself that!
I have two things that drive me.

One is independence – I have invested too much of my soul in the cause to stop now, no matter how difficult it is. I passionately believe as a Nation we would be so much better off governing our own affairs and as someone who believes that if you want something you have to work for it, you have to be involved, in other words don’t ask people to do or believe in something you’re not prepared to roll up your sleeves and make happen. I want to be able to look my grandchildren in the eye and say I helped make this happen for you, for your future. I couldn’t bare my legacy being more of the same or even worse from Westminster limiting the choices and opportunities of future generations.

The other is social justice - I genuinely wish I had a magic wand that would take away the poverty and injustice that is in all our communities. In all my working and volunteering life I have witnessed things and situations that I expect many have no idea about. As a single parent working full-time and part-time, I know that struggle. The thing that sickens me the most is, it doesn’t have to be that way – this is one of the richest countries in the world so what we need is a more even distribution of wealth. I am not against entrepreneurship – in fact, as Scot’s that invented the modern world we have much creativity and intellect, we can tap into – all that is need is a level playing field and opportunities for all.
I feel incredibly proud that I’m Scottish and I want us to get rid of the Scottish cringe and take pride in our abilities and talent and take our rightful place on the world stage.
