CORRI WILSON MP HOSTS WELFARE SURGERY

Corri Wilson, MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock, will host a constituency-wide welfare surgery at Ayr Town Hall next week. The event, which will run from 1pm to 3pm on Friday 28 April, seeks to bring services and organisations working in the welfare sector together with constituents who are looking for advice or assistance.

TWO CHILD LIMIT AND RAPE CLAUSE ARE 'SHAMEFUL' SAY LOCAL MP & MSP

Ayr, Carrick & Cumnock MP Corri Wilson has reacted to the introduction of a two child limit and rape clause for tax credits which came into force at the start of April. Ms Wilson said that the new rules will be devastating for families who are already struggling to make ends meet and that survivors of rape are being treated with shocking disrespect.

Corri Wilson, MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock, has reacted to the Prime Minister’s triggering of Article 50, which begins the formal process of leaving the EU, by saying that Scotland has already been let down by a UK Government that does not care about the wishes of the Scottish people. Theresa May has been accused of breaking her promise not to trigger Article 50 until she had agreed a UK-wide approach by embarking on negotiations after ignoring attempts by the Scottish government to reach an agreement.

Local MP Corri Wilson has welcomed a £5,000 grant for local charity South Ayrshire Befriending Project from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland. Every year the Foundation distributes just under £1m through its Henry Duncan Awards programme to grassroots charities working in their local communities.

MP ‘STAGGERED’ BY BANK’S DISREGARD FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY AS 1,200 SIGNATURE PETITION DEMANDS A RE-THINK  

Local MP Corri Wilson has expressed her anger over Lloyd’s Banking Group’s handling of the closure of the Bank of Scotland branch in Maybole on 15 June 2016.  
Ms Wilson has been seeking answers on the decision since it was announced at the start of February, and today handed over a 1,200 signature petition from the local community asking the partly state-owned bank to reconsider the closure.

LOCAL MP CALLS ON GUARDIAN SURGICAL TO RECONSIDER PROPOSED PLANT CLOSURE  

Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP Corri Wilson has expressed her concern at the proposed closure of one of the two Guardian Surgical plants in Ayrshire.   Formerly known as BDF Healthcare, the plants in Girvan and Patna produce single use surgical textiles and sterile dental equipment for the healthcare sector.

MP SLAMS GOVERNMENT AS 2.6M MORE CHILDREN ARE PUSHED INTO POVERTY 

Local MP Corri Wilson has accused the UK Government of lacking compassion as new figures from the Institute for Fiscal Studies show that the number of children in the UK living in absolute poverty will increase by 2.6 million by 2020-21 as a result of cuts to social security.
